The doves in my backyard today...

I keep an iron statuette of a dove on this particular rock out in my backyard...it's a leftover from Christi's wedding reception decor....today I looked out and saw at least 4 other real doves congregating with the "dove of steel" in the middle. So cute!
"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary

end of a telescope and that enables you to laugh at life's realities."

POSITIVE QUOTE OF THE DAY

There is a sense of exhilaration that comes from facing head-on the
hard truths and saying, "We will never give up. We will never
capitulate. It might take a long time, but we will find a way to
prevail."

he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears,
however measured or faraway." - Henry David Thoreau

I want to be young again...

i just found this picture last night. It was of me and Leslie at a Mother's Day Luncheon at her school. Taken in May of 1995....it feels like a century ago...and I want long hair again. Am I too old for long hair? Posted by Picasa

Positive Quote of the Day

Happiness is essentially a state of going somewhere, wholeheartedly,
one-directionally, without regret or reservation.

Which Conference talk did you like best?

Just a question for all my Mormon friends....I loved Elder Holland's talk. It was just what i needed. Pres. Hinckley was cute when he said that his talk shouldn't be considered an obituary...even though that's what I was thinking the whole time he was talking. But, sadly, I always wonder if this is the last time we will see him speak at conference. I adore him. The weather looked good in SLC....so...is it as perfect as it looked Sarita and Jess? Love you guys!

Ryan was sick today...

Yes, very sick indeed. He had a fever of 101.6 and he had a headache that woke him up and even scared him. I felt so sad for him. He's a big kid at 14...taller than me...and yet, I went back to bed at 5 A.M. after finding out he was so sick and I worried for an hour about what could be wrong. He's still my baby.

It turns out that our family doctor was out of town (again) and so we waited at URGENT Care for 5 and 1/2 hours. He has a sinus infection but will mend soon with the prescription we were sent home with.

Another rain storm is coming in. I know lots of people are grumbling about it here where I live, but i love the rain and we really don't get that many rainstorms here...so it's a treat to me.

Total Eclipse of the Sun....

Wasn't there a song with that title? Oh, the 80's.
Today was a good day...I had to take Sean to have his TB skin test checked...it was fine...and then we went to pick up his packet to register for Kindergarten.
I felt sad all afternoon thinking about him leaving me to enter the world. And then, he came home from playing at his friend's house and behaved badly - demanding food and drink, etc. Suddenly I felt a little giddy at the prospect of school starting in September.... Funny how that happens. Well, maybe it doesn't happen to anyone else. All I know is that I read a quote long ago by Kahlil Gibran - he said, "Let there be spaces in your togetherness"...it is good to have some space now and then.

Someday I'll write my own words of wisdom...but for now....

There is work that is work and there is play that is play; there is play that is work and work that is play. And in only one of these lie happiness.

Just for You Cheri...

It was so pretty up there and I closed my eyes and pretended it was Christmas. This is the last of the snow for the season...although, they're predicting it might snow this weekend. Lovely......so clean and fresh. Posted by Picasa

Leslie performed at her very last Spirit Night for Clovis Unified. Now, don't get the idea that I will miss Spirit Night...no sir...I rather hate Spirit Night and secretly delighted in the fact that I will never have to attend another 2 hour long rally with 100's of little cheerleaders and their moms again. However, I am pretty amazed that Little Lulu (as i call her) has grown up so fast and so beautifully. She is no longer a little girl - biting Rachel on the cheek and such - she's graduating from High School in only a couple of months and from there.....who knows? What a joy it has been to be the mother of such an adventuresome child (an understatement by the way!! heehee). And finally...had I known I would be walking out on the gym floor with her to be recognized that night with my little corsage...i would have worn something more appropriate...at least something blue or yellow with a little touch of sequin. ah well........ This little child...

...has made me smile over 1,267,000 times since he came to live with me 5.75 years ago. What a joy...what a blessing...I'm thankful every day. (Remind me of these feelings when he wants to borrow my car in another 10 years....)

In Fact....

As I was looking through these recent photos of Leslie and Grant just a few minutes ago...I came upon one like I've already posted below...(see below)...and yet, in THIS photo....you can see Cowboy sitting very much alone in the background.....isn't that precious??? It's like he KNOWS he wasn't invited to participate in the Grant-Fest. Funny that i found this tonight. Again...."GOOD DOG COWBOY!" Posted by Picasa

Ode to Cowboy...Faithful Dog O' the Manor...

no, he's not deceased...I was just thinking about little Cowboy and how he's still faithful despite the new addition here of our Grandson Grant. You can tell Cowboy has that look on his face - like he's thinking - "Who is this...and can we send him back?" Despite his obvious reluctance to "bond" with Grant, you can tell he's mildly interested in him and more than anything...he's willing to just take the backseat as the most important Small Being in our household. Good Dog. Let's all take a moment and give a hearty shout "Good Dog Cowboy!" Posted by Picasa
