Honey Toast

The Grapes...they are calling your name.....

I am not supposed to be out in the heat, so I can't pick with you this week....but I did get an assignment to re-label all the end posts with the correct wards and stakes.  It was fun...and cooler with the nice weather break, but lonely out there in the church vineyard all by myself.

"There has come to you as your birthright something beautiful and sacred and divine. Never forget that. Your Eternal Father is the great Master of the universe. He rules over all, but He also will listen to your prayers . . . and hear you as you speak with Him. He will answer your prayers. He will not leave you alone."

-President Gordon B. Hinckley

"A sense of humor... is needed armor. Joy in one's heart and some laughter on one's lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life.”

Love is a symbol of eternity. It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end.

I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds 'round my neck. ~Emma Goldman

"We do not know the future, but our Father in Heaven does, and He will lead and guide us if we let Him. When we are in tune with the Spirit, we will see many small miracles happen in our lives. I have found that having the ability to see and recognize these small miracles is based upon my spiritual worthiness, my willingness to be obedient, and my desire to not allow myself to become complacent and caught up in worldly and personal pursuits."

Favorite things...

Those of you that know me well, know that I especially love a few things in life: After God, Family and Friends comes chocolate, ribbon, sea shells, lace, roses, beads and purses - old and new.  Robin was sweet enough to gift me the vintage golden handbag - THANK YOU ROBIN! - and Caleen is amazing at whipping up fabric flowers, so she gave me some suggestions -THANK YOU CALEEN!  Today I finally got creative again.  I feel like my creative side has been sleeping the summer away - - like it's in a coma or something!!!......I had a great day today making "roses" from scrim.  Another one of my favorite things - scrim.  It's gauzy and flowy and a perfect shade of ivory.  Anyway...thank you friends for helping me to get in the mood to make something.  I think I will use this purse too!  It won't fit much more than keys, a driver's license and my cell phone, but what more could i need?  The chocolate won't fit, but that'll be melting in my mouth!

50th Anniversary Family Camping Trip...

Thanks mom and dad!  We loved our trip with you!!! In fact, we were all feeling depressed that it was over...and we wish we could go back up to Wishon.  For me to say that about camping means I truly had a wonderful time!
Love you and Happy Anniversary!

"I testify to you that our promised blessings are beyond measure. Though the storm clouds may gather, though the rains may pour down upon us, our knowledge of the gospel and our love of our Heavenly Father and of our Savior will comfort and sustain us and bring joy to our hearts as we walk uprightly and keep the commandments. There will be nothing in this world that can defeat us."

-Thomas S. Monson

What was hard to bear is sweet to remember.

 Portuguese proverb

Sunday, August 01, 2010

“The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature.”
- Ezra Taft Benson
